RigiTech Eiger is reaching SAIL III, opening new horizons for drone logistics

Rigi Technologies, a Swiss UAS manufacturer, is proud to announce that its flagship Eiger drone is reaching SAIL III. As European regulations evolve and unlock new operational scenarios, we have been ready from the beginning to seize these opportunities and become one of the first drone delivery companies with a SAIL III ready system.

Building on the success of our SAIL II operations, our extensive real-world experience, gained through rigorous BVLOS missions under EASA and FAA frameworks in collaboration with our customers, has enabled us to continuously refine our technology. This major milestone confirms that our processes and safety validations have evolved to meet the next generation of drone aviation requirements.

Reaching SAIL III means our drones can safely operate in areas with higher population densities, where previous standards would have imposed restrictions. More importantly, this expanded operational envelope opens up entirely new logistics possibilities, allowing operators to serve denser suburban and remote regions, such as hospitals and labs, without the limitations of SAIL II. By making critical routes more accessible, we not only improve resource allocation and strengthen the business case for drone logistics, but we also create positive social impact by bringing faster, more cost-effective services to communities that need them most.

Our commitment to safety is reflected in our EASA Design Verification Report for Enhanced Containment (under MoC SC Light-UAS.2511) and our declaration of compliance for the Eiger’s parachute system (under MoC SC Light-UAS.2512 / M2 Medium), ensuring we meet rigorous standards for secure and reliable operations. In addition, our system boasts triple redundancy in the long-range command and control link and a redundant GNSS to ensure robust and reliable operations under any conditions.

At RigiTech, our participation in collaborative working groups composed of international professionals from industry, Civil Aviation Authorities, and Air Navigation Service Providers has provided us with valuable insights that we have translated into practical enhancements for our technology. In recent years, our regulatory expert Alejandro del Estal Herrero has collaborated with worldwide experts in EUROCAE and JARUS, contributing to guidance material that balances aviation safety requirements with the practical needs of drone operations. This initiative is not just about enabling our own Eiger drone, it is about opening the door for the entire drone industry.

“We are mature enough and fully prepared to meet the challenges of modern drone logistics” said Alejandro, our Head of Airworthiness. Our journey from SAIL II to SAIL III is a statement of our commitment to safety, innovation, and industry leadership. RigiTech is not only certifying our drones for safe operation in demanding environments. With these advancements, our customers can now unlock significantly more routes, linking more facilities than ever before and achieving higher system utilization.”

Reservations for SAIL III enabled Eiger drones are now open on a first-come, first-served basis.

RigiTech can also help with dedicated regulatory support to ensure smooth integration of our drones into your operations.
